Sylvain Roberge
Born in Asbestos, a small town in the center of Quebec, Sylvain Roberge is the youngest of a family of two. At the age of eleven, he had his first contact with oil painting. At sixteen, he attended portrait classes. This influenced his concern for proportions. After furthering his artistic formation at Dawson College in Montreal (1994-1996), he pursued with a degree in illustration at the Sheridan College in Toronto (1996-1998). Concerned by the freedom of creation, Sylvain returned to Montreal to begin a new career which gave birth to four magnificent collections: Renaissance, Pop, Synthetic World and Masked Ball.
He paints in a modified encaustic technique (coloured pigment mixed with hot beeswax) and then applies several layers of a resin varnish.
