Sabine Maître – Sculptor
Sabine was born in Frieburg (Germany) in 1963 and now resides in the Alsace region of France. In 1980 she apprenticed under the renowned glass artist Ingrid Burkhardt in Frieburg. In 2004 she set up her own studio and immediately started receiving a staggering number of commissions for stained glass in historic cathedrals, commercial buildings and other public venues.
In 2005 she started creating her unique steel and glass sculptures. Sabine establishes an intimate and emotional dialogue between natural and man-made elements. Mankind, whose quest for absolutes creates ever fascinating structures on Earth of which his passage might only be temporary. But the message reverberates and the hierarchical and sober forms of Sabine's sculptures leave us questing for more.
