MICHEL FARRUGGELLO
BIOGRAPHY
Farruggello has distinguished himself by a few hundred public demonstrations of his work. Gallery owner in France, he became an artist upon his arrival in the province of Quebec, in 1989. He undertook live model classes and learned how to work with perspective while studying the architectural urban structures. Since his first exhibition in Montréal in 1995, he has mostly depicted urban scenes where he mixed abstraction with figurative elements.
In 2005, Farruggello sets his studio in the Eastern townships area. This change greatly affects his art in the sense that in becomes more monochromatic. His recent work makes way for a poised pictorial approach where his researches on perspective become an important preoccupation. His palette, rich with grays and Prussian blues, respects, with harmony, the local colors of his marine scenes set in a tempestuous landscape.
Having exhibited in over thirty public and corporate spaces - galleries, cafes, offices, cultural centers – as a solo artist or part of a collective, he also distinguished himself in more than a hundred live painting events in Montreal. He is a member of the Quebec professional visual artists’ association, the Regroupement des artistes en arts visuels du Quebec (RAAV).
