Artist statement
"Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes.
Art is knowing which ones to keep" Adams
Art is subjective: whatever you see, whatever you feel.
And that is my goal - to create something subjective, something intriguing, stimulating; to help individuals and businesses alike create a more stirring environment by filling it with art that touches and engages heart, mind and soul.
For me art is a passion. In the creativity is an experience of the spiritual: the rare opportunity to be absolutely in the present moment, to share that energy, that sensation. I work in oil and encaustic; I'm drawn to texture, be it in the paint or on the canvas surface. Continually experimenting with new techniques and composition, stretching my boundaries, seeking professional advice and mentoring from other artists.
Biography
An original from Saskatchewan, I moved to Calgary in the mid 90's to continue operating the financial planning practice I was building. After 10 years of utilizing my talents in that area, I decided it was time for a change and sold my practice in early 2003 to take up life as an artist.
Having always had a love for creating things, for music, for dance, I found one of my passions when I applied paint brush to canvas for the first time; and find as much joy in the process as in the end product. Recently lured back to the wide open spaces of Saskatchewan, I reside with my fellas - husband Murray, and sons Eli and Emmett - and a wide variety of prairie flora and fauna.
